It’s worth it. I’m just telling you this because it is true.

yaaaaayyy! It was a good day when our countertops came. I just got off the phone with our contractor to have them come finish ONE, literally one item that I don’t want to do myself. Glad to hear yours is coming together.

Definitely pics!

I’m jealous. We had hoped to be done renovating at this point but we’re only just now getting the cabinets and countertops ordered.

The pitfalls of doing a lot ourselves...

Drywall is mostly up now, mudding, painting, trim and flooring will get done before the kitchen goes in, finally. Realistically, we hope to be done in December now.

Enjoy yours. The payoff is worth the time.

I had entertained the idea of doing some of the work myself, but I opted for the much more expensive route of sitting at my computer while watching people do the work, people with significantly greater skills than I possess. While the actual work started on October 10, there were many, many weeks of planning, designing, ordering, choosing, etc. I’m sick of making decisions!

High five! Mine got installed on Monday; the new sink is there but gotta wait until the backsplash gets tiled before it gets plumbing hooked up.

I’m not even done choosing stuff and I’m already sick of it. We’re doing much ourselves because budget but I totally appreciate not wanting to do it yourself, especially having done it.

It’s a learning process and while gaining new skills is fun, I find a lot of it tedious and annoying (drywall, mudding and painting mostly). I enjoyed demolition and structure work though, I’m hoping building the kitchen and flooring are at least somewhat enjoyable.

I’m sure it will be a lot more fun when it starts coming together. Good luck!
